Challenge

Prove profitable scalability on amazon to secure future funding

When we took on Cusa Tea & Coffee as a partner, they had just successfully completed some funding rounds earlier in the year. To take things to the next level and secure future investments, the company's Amazon operations had to be scaled up to develop and strengthen the sales channel.

During the partnership, we worked through multiple phases where either revenue or profitability was the key parameter for success. This was to prove to potential investors that Amazon can be a scalable and profitable sales channel to strengthen the brand's position in the market in the long run.

Solution

Overhauling the entire PPC setup and optimizing all listings for profitable scalability

Before we took over, the listings and advertising setup were not in good shape. To enable the scalability of the campaigns, we had to overhaul the entire advertising strategy. Most of the ad budget was spent on top-of-funnel campaigns without a solid base of profitability campaigns. Furthermore, the campaigns were mismanaged and convoluted, with multiple match types and multiple products in one campaign and ad group.

The next problem was that the listing copy & content had not been built with conversion in mind. The titles and bullets did not include some of the major keywords customers were looking for, leading to confusion for customers, especially since the images did not explain the product well either.

Hitting multiple revenue and profit records within our initial 2 months

One of the biggest growth levers for Cusa Tea & Coffee was improving the listing content. By strategically optimizing the secondary images to include both infographics and lifestyle images and implementing multiple A/B tests on the main image, we were able to increase the conversion rates by almost 30% across all products.

Coupled with the increase in traffic due to much more profitable and scalable advertising and improved organic rankings, we were able to exceed our initial targets within the first two months of working together and managed to hit multiple revenue and profit records in the process.

We now have the full Amazon data for October, and it seems like we had the best month ever in revenue! By at least $5K over the previous best month I think. Thank you all for the hard work!
